Business travelers as well as tourists have to make certain precautions in order to make sure that they will remain healthy during the trip.

Health should be considered especially when traveling alone, remember that any health complications experienced while outside the country will not be covered by health insurance coverage from the government.

People from Europe who have just completed their EHIC application have to be extra cautious during their travel because their health insurance coverage cannot extend overseas.

Here are some tips to stay healthy while traveling:

1. Make extra precautions while on flight - stay hydrated while traveling, drink water instead of alcohol and take less sugary drinks. In doing so you can avoid experiencing blood clots especially if the flight is going to take 8 hours or more. It would be best to take short walks hourly, while seated make sure to flex the ankles and to never cross the legs.

2. Choose to eat nutritious foods - avoid eating too much fast food, avoid eating too much burger, fried, soda and processed foods. Stick to a healthy and good diet. Make sure to find areas where fresh vegetables and fruits are being served and avoid skipping breakfast; make sure that you are receiving the essential vitamins during the trip.

3. Find clean restaurants - remember to always invest in health, while there are cheap restaurants that can be found all over the place where you are traveling make sure to choose a restaurant that prepares clean food.

Avoid eating in areas where you are not sure, check for restaurant reviews before trying the food, especially for sea foods and places that offer sushi.

4. Make sure to stay clean - people who are traveling need to make sure that they remain clean themselves; they need to wash their hands often, to cut their nails and to avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth especially if they have ridden the subway. While a hand sanitizer is effective for targeting bacteria, it is not able to remove viruses which are why it would still be best to wash with water and soap.

5. Always practice safe sex - sexually transmitted diseases is everywhere, the best way for travelers to avoid contracting STD is to practice safe sex.
Condoms are available anywhere in the world, but if you are traveling into a remote area then it would be good to bring along your own set of condoms.

6. Always include exercise in your daily habit - even while traveling find ways to exercise, it would be best to include hiking trips, visits to the park and garden while traveling. Taking long walks is also a good way to stay in shape. Biking can also be done, instead of renting a car, rent a bike instead and get a good view of the country that you are visiting.

7. Always get enough sleep - too much work and lack of sleep can lead to a number of health problems, make sure to get at least 6 hours of sleep. Always make it a priority to catch up on sleep that you lack no matter how busy you are.

Sleep is vital for rest and can re-energize the body to function better.
