The #1 WORST Food that HARMS Your Brain (AVOID!)
Very few people actually knew that certain foods you eat can indeed harm your brain, both in impaired learning ability as well as impaired memory. Not only that, a new research has also shown that wrong food and drink choices throughout your life can even lead to the terrible and daily diseases of Alzheimer

So let’s take a good look at foods that harm your brain, and what you can do about it…

A new UCLA study has recently published findings that eating a high-fructose diet over time degenerates your brain’s ability to learn and remember information.

Even worse, earlier research has shown that a high fructose diet also causes insulin resistance in the body to lead to other serious health complications such as diabetes, obesity and fatty liver

So what we have here is high-fructose intake = impaired memory and learning in your brain, increased risk of diabetes, and increased risk of heart disease. Oh, and we forgot to mention extra belly fat too…  Yum – who wants another can of soda pop or a large bowl of corn syrup sweetened ice cream!

The average American eating a modern western diet consumes a LARGE quantity of fructose daily through soft drinks, condiments, applesauce and baby food. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the average American consumes roughly 47lbs of cane sugar and 35 lbs of high-fructose corn syrup per year

Note that many sports drinks, even though marketed as “healthy”, can have large amounts of corn syrup or even crystalline fructose as their main sweetener.  These sports drinks can be equally as bad as a soda for your body and your brain.  Don’t be fooled by the clever marketing showing pictures of pro athletes guzzling this stuff.

Also note that agave syrup (aka, agave nectar) which is marketed as a “healthy” sweetener as well, is one of the most concentrated forms of processed fructose in sweeteners as well.  I personally stay away from agave sweeteners as much as possible unless the amounts are very small.

Final piece of caveat about fructose… Yes, natural whole fruits do contain naturally occurring fructose, but generally contain MUCH smaller quantities of fructose than manufactured processed food products such as sweeteners and preservatives. Not to mentioned, fruits still do contain important antioxidants.

Other Foods that HARM Your Brain:

You probably already know some of the harmful health effects of these foods, but long term effects on your brain are yet another…

Trans fats - listed on food labels as “partially hydrogenated” oil, are man-made oils. They contribute to the creation of free radicals in the brain. These cause INFLAMMATION of the BRAIN, contributing to neuron DEATH and Alzheimer’s disease.

Mercury – Despite its well-known dangers and role as a potent neurotoxin, many naïve people increase their exposure to mercury daily by eating contaminated seafood. Most fishes high on the food chain such as tuna, shark, swordfish, tilefish, etc are usually contaminated. Limit your intake of these types of fish to a couple times of month and go for other smaller fishes such as salmon and trouth.

Refined Starches – White breads, white rice, and pasta are unhealthy for our bodies and our brains because they have been stripped of all fibre and nutrients. Refined starch quickly converts to sugar in the blood stream causing a spike in blood sugar levels

Blood sugar swings which are associated with mood swings and depression, and when blood-sugar levels are extremely low, the brain doesn’t get enough fuel and is not able to function properly.

However, the powerful DHA and EPA omega-3 fats in fish oils and krill oil have been proven in countless studies to protect your brain from damage over the years.

So, the choice is yours. Choose Wisely!
